As Director of the Center for Integrated Watershed Science and Management, Professor Mount is internationally known for his research on fluvial geomorphology and river geology. Since 1979, his work has been critical for the development of sound land use policy in California. Among his many activities he has evaluated endangered species in the Klamath River basin for the National Research Council, served on the State Board of Reclamation, and has served on the National Environmental Advisory Committee, which oversees the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
