During
his nineteen-year career as a member of the faculty at UCD, Professor Wing Woo
has used his expertise in macroeconomic development and transition economics to
make an outstanding public contribution to economic development in many parts
of the world. He has served as a formal and informal advisor to the governments
of China, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Mongolia, Taiwan, Ukraine, and Viet Nam.
He served as a Special Advisor on Asian Economies to the US Treasury and continues
to contribute papers and testimony to the Joint Economic Committee of the US Congress.
He served as an advisor to the Asian Development Bank, the Global Development
Network, the World Economic Forum, and the Institute for South East Asian Studies.
He recently served as a Special Advisor for East Asian Economies in the Millennium
Goals Project of the United Nations, whose goals include the eradication of extreme
poverty and hunger, the reduction of child mortality, and world wide environmental
stability.
